Cord Blood Practice Guidelines
Selecting the best CBU for your patient isn’t the same as selecting
an unrelated adult donor. Clinical and product factors may affect
your decision. You may have questions about what makes one CBU a
better choice than another. That’s why we offer a Cord Blood
Consultation service.
Cord blood as a graft source has unique considerations. The
Cord Blood Practice Guidelines offer consistent recommendations
to support clinicians from initial patient and CBU selection through
infusion and post-transplant care.
When you request the service, we connect you with a member of our
NMDP Clinical Services or Medical Services team who is experienced
in CBU selection and transplantation. The physician will call you to
discuss your speci昀椀c patient case and provide guidance based on
the nature of advice requested.
They’re available as open-access articles in the Transplantation and
Cellular Therapy journal or through ASTCT’s mobile app.
The guidelines are a collaborative effort between NMDP, the ASTCT
Committee on Practice Guidelines (CoPG) and the ASTCT Cord
Blood Special Interest Group (SIG).
